PINELANDS GARDEN CLUB OF MEDFORD CONTINUING PROJECTS

  • APPLE FESTIVAL
The products made and sold by our members at this annual Medford Event are our biggest fundraiser for scholarships and educational projects. Don't miss Apple Festival this year - Saturday, October 9th
    See photos from 2003!

  • ARBOR DAY
Arbor Day in Medford is a celebration of trees and children involving the Pinelands Garden Club, the Medford Township Shade Tree Advisory Board and the Medford Township School System. These organizations work together to put host a tree planting and dedication ceremony involving fourth graders each year. Students win awards for Arbor Day poems and posters.

  • CHRISTMAS AT SMITHVILLE
Each year our club beautifully decorates a room at the historic Smithville Mansion in Mt. Holly, NJ. Ideas for the theme are developed throughout the summer and fall. The completed decorations are on display during the month of December.

  • CHRISTMAS IN FAIRMOUNT PARK
This committee decorates an area of one of the stately and beautiful Fairmount Park Mansions. The theme of the decor is chosen each year by the Philadelphia Art Museum. Workshops are held each fall to make the decorations. Tours are usually the first week in December.

  • FLOWER SERVICE- MEDFORD CARE CENTER
The Medford Care Center patients look forward to our visits and some patients like to participate in the making of small arrangements for themselves and others. Garden Club members make bedside table arrangements for patients not able to make their own.

  • HERB, PERENNIAL & WILDFLOWER SALE
Held annually in May, this is a terrific sale! Garden Club members educate "buyers" about different perennials and herbs and what would best suit their yard and garden design. This year we plan to include the native wildflowers in a Helen Hull Garden.

  • HERB AND WILDFLOWER STUDY GROUPS
These two groups meet seven times a year at members' homes for further enrichment and in depth study of our subjects. Members' gardens are visited and field trips are taken. This year, a Colonial Herb Day celebration was held at the Gazebo in Medford Village .

  • L & S BOARDING HOME
Our goal with this project is to enrich the lives of the residents of L & S. Our workshops help the residents to see the beauty in nature and experience a hands-on project where they can accomplish the task of making something of their own. The annual Christmas Party is a big event that the residents look forward to all year. Many times in projects like this, we end up receiving more than we give.

  • PINELANDS LIBRARY, MINI-INFORMATION CENTER
Come visit the Pinelands Branch of the Burlington County Library. Right inside the door you will find a small display case featuring seasonal exhibits by the Pinelands Garden Club.

  • SCHOLARSHIP FUND
Each year applications are made available to all local high schools, vocational and technical schools for graduating seniors who will be pursuing Horticultural/Environmental degrees.

  • WILDFLOWER PRESERVATION
We continuing to lose our native plants daily. One of the surest ways to save these natural treasures is to include them in our existing landscapes.

  • WILDFLOWERS AND/OR NATIVE PLANTS GARDEN TOURS
We hope to have a "virtual tour" of our members' gardens this year. Look for more information in April/May 2005.
